It hasn't been worth the trouble I have had with it over the years; I wish I had sprung for a Springfield or Colt, but I was poor back then Get on m1911.org and there is an Auto Ordnance forum, believe it or not p.s my serial # is AOC28XXX- I don't know if that helps or not. Auto ordnance 1911 question - posted in FIREARMS & ORDNANCE: The only true mil spec. 1911 I can find on the market is the one offered by AO. I know its got a hammer block so it is not a true mil spec. Its as close as I am going to find. I understand Springfield has discontinued their GI version. I have never owned an Auto Ordnance gun before. I know they are not considered a high end firearm.

I bought a Auto ordnance 1927A1 semi auto , the books don't talk about it , I looked on gun broker to get a good feel on different charging handles, rear sights ect...
The one I picked up seems to have the old style charging handle ( see through cylinder shape) not the ball shaped handle and its got the elevated sight. I have also been able to see a couple of the newer serial numbers have prefixes or suffixes, I cant remember, but mine doesn't.
It has a serial number of 110XX , its also parkerized not blued
Any info would be great
Thanks

Can anyone advise me if it is correct for an Auto-Ordance WWII Thompson M1 SMG to have the serial number in the range 123xxx? Also, would a war-time Thompson made by AO have the name on the rear right-hand side of receiver 'AUTO-ORDANCE CORPORATION' with 'BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT, U.S.A.' below it? I'm trying to confirm if this is a genuine AO WWII manufactured M1 or a put together one, and what year it may have been made. Are there other markings or features that might assist in confirming its authenticity? Thanks, Mike
