So its been a few years since i played and i discovered i was playing wrong for years last night in a game.
Player 1 - 1 city 1 active knight
Player 2 - 1 city 1 active knight
Player 3 - 2 cities 1 active knight
Player 4 - 4 cities 2 active knights

The barbarians attack, according to the rulebook Players 1,2,3 all lose a city while player 4 is spared because he has the most knights.

in the past I always played this as those who did not contribute enough to cover their own cities lose a city, cause that seemed to make more sense, in this case the player in the lead by building more cities was forcing other players to build more knights to protect him, because he caused the deficit of knights to cities ratio, but by virtue of having more knights forced others to lose cities..

It just seemed really wrong to me, anyone else have experience with this situation?
